M-12: where a weighing and dimension-control test is planned
Avtodor has scheduled a test of automatic weighing and dimension control at three points on the M-12 from 1 October. Where are they, and what should carriers check before a trip?

Where and when the test is planned
On 23 September, Avtodor announced a planned test of automated weighing and dimension-control points on the M-12 Vostok from 1 October to 30 December 2026. The notice names three locations: km 615+910 in the outbound direction, km 619+920 in the return direction, and km 774 in both directions. These are separate monitoring points; simply noting “travel via the M-12” is not enough to tell whether a particular trip will pass one.
The announcement describes a future test period. As of 27 September, it does not confirm that the points are already operating. Before dispatch, the carrier should check the road operator’s latest notice, direction of travel and kilometre markers on the selected route.
How Avtodor describes measurement results
According to Avtodor, if a monitoring point records an exceedance of permitted weight or dimension limits, the measurement results will be posted on the operator’s website under “Road users → Freight carriers.” For a specific trip, check updates to that section and the operator’s announcement.
What to check before a trip on the M-12
The customer should give the carrier the actual cargo weight including packaging and its dimensions. The carrier should confirm the loaded vehicle or vehicle combination’s specifications: gross weight, axle-load distribution and overall dimensions. The weight of an individual package does not show the axle loads of the complete vehicle. If the specifications require a special permit for the chosen route, check its availability and applicability before dispatch.
Mark all three announced locations on the working route and note the direction of travel at each. Agree who will check Avtodor updates before departure and, if relevant to the trip, where to look for any results later. If the vehicle combination, cargo placement or route changes, check the underlying specifications again: the previous calculation may no longer describe the actual shipment.
This process helps you discuss preparations with the carrier using specific information, without assuming that a point not yet confirmed as operational is already running. For heavy or oversized cargo, start with verified measurements and route conditions rather than an approximate weight from the request.
