Ankara–St Petersburg: a changed container route
FESCO changed the Russian destination port for shipments from Ankara. Recalculating delivery after the container reaches the Baltic.

What the operator changed
On 24 September FESCO announced that intermodal container shipments from Ankara had shifted from Novorossiysk to St Petersburg. The rail leg to Turkey’s Gebze remains, followed by sea transport. This is an operator service change, not a universal arrangement for all cargo.
Recalculate the Russian leg
Editorial advice: when the port changes, reassess delivery to the final warehouse. Effects differ for a northwestern consignee and one in southern Russia. Compare vehicle, distance, receiving availability and container-return location for the same consignment.
Do not automatically carry over the previous road-leg price or delivery window. Confirm terminal-handling scope and when the container will be available for collection. Agree responsibility for coordination between sea and inland stages.
Prepare a comparable quotation request
Specify origin and destination, cargo readiness, container type, weight and goods description. Add temperature, packaging and unloading requirements separately. These parameters support a whole-chain assessment and avoid comparing quotations with different service scopes.
