A40 near Duisburg: closure through 5 October and diversions

On 24 September, German motorway operator Autobahn GmbH announced that the A40 would be closed in both directions between Autobahnkreuz Duisburg and Anschlussstelle Kaiserberg. The announced period is from 21:00 on 24 September to 05:00 on 5 October, German local time. This is a closure of that road section, not a complete closure of every approach to Duisburg or the entire Duisburg-Kaiserberg interchange.

This may affect transit through or deliveries to the Ruhr area: a route using the A40 may need a diversion on its final road leg. Recheck the published dates and times before dispatch.

For traffic towards Essen, Autobahn GmbH routes vehicles via the A59 towards Düsseldorf, then the A524 to the Breitscheid interchange and the A52 towards Essen. For traffic towards Venlo, it specifies a different route: the A3 towards Arnhem, the A42 towards Kamp-Lintfort, then from the Duisburg-Nord interchange via the A59 towards Düsseldorf to the Duisburg interchange, where traffic rejoins the A40.

These are the announced diversion routes, signposted on the road; they do not guarantee the same journey time for every truck. Check the sequence of interchanges against the trip’s direction and the signs in force.
